Healing the Brain, an Awareness of Child Abuse and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder

Welcome to the Healing journey of Knowledge. Child abuse happens every ten seconds and four children die everyday with three of these children being under the age of 4. I am dedicated to reaching out and touching all survivors of abuse and preventing abuse at an early stage. There is hope, there are answers that will free the ghosts and let you begin your journey of taking back your POWER.

It sounds like we have normal reactions wow it"s nice to understand that word (normal)

Childhood abuse and other extreme stressors can have lasting effects on brain areas involved in memory and emotion. The hippocampus is a brain area involved in learning and memory that is particularly sensitive to stress

McEwen BS, Angulo J, Cameron H, Chao HM, Daniels D, Gannon MN, Gould E, Mendelson S, Sakai R, Spencer R, Woolley C (1992): Paradoxical effects of adrenal steroids on the brain: Protection versus degeneration. Biol Psychiatry 31:177-199

Remember we feel pain now because that feeling was locked away to survive, now we don't have to survive we can learn slowly but steadfastly to thrive....

Knowledge

"Our brains are sculpted by our early experiences. Maltreatment is a chisel that shapes a brain to contend with strife, but at the cost of deep, enduring wounds." --Teicher, 2000, p. 67
